Join us for the second Phish Studies conference on May 17-19, 2024 at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon
Oregon State University and the Mockingbird Foundation are honored to host the second Phish Studies conference in Corvallis, Oregon on May 17-19, 2024. The conference will feature research presentations and community events about the improvisational rock band Phish, as well as its fans and culture. Like the inaugural conference in 2019, this gathering will represent diverse disciplinary approaches, featuring scholars from across the country.
The 2024 conference will showcase a number of special events including: community panels, an exhibition fair, a poster session, a Phishsonian pop-up museum exhibit, a pre-conference workshop for Phans for Racial Equity and GrooveSafe, and curated art exhibits. Over three days in 2019, nearly 200 fans and scholars attended the conference and more than 50 scholars presented. Our planning for 2024 includes a larger venue that will enable the participation of more fans and scholars in the event.

Additionally, as a GRAMMY Museum university affiliate, OSU recognizes the cultural significance of music in our educational and research programs. By hosting the second Phish Studies conference, OSU continues to demonstrate our commitment to innovative scholarly work at the intersections of scholarly thought and live music communities.
OSU is proud to partner with the Mockingbird Foundation, an all volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to music education across the country, in the planning and hosting of this event. Since its founding in 1997, the Mockingbird Foundation has distributed over $2.3M through 657 unique grants in all 50 states supporting music education for children.
The conference Program Committee consists of scholars from around the country, representing nine different academic disciplines. We are proud to continue the dream of Phish Studies and invite you to continue to make it a reality through your participation.
